Update: YEARS OF DUST

Jonathan Hunt at SLJ responded to my critique of Albert Marrin's Years of Dust. If you're interested in the on-going dialogue, click on over to Years of Dust and read his rebuttal of what I said, comments to his rebuttal, and, my responses to that conversation.

I looked.

Oh, wow. There's a little too much of the 'you should be grateful someone's even talking about Indians

I'm going to go look at that twilight wolf pack spoof again to soothe my aching head.

Debbie,
What is your thoughts about Tomie De Paola Books? The Legend of the Bluebonnet, and The Legend of the Indian Paintbrush?

Thanks Patricia O.

Patricia,

BLUEBONNET received a mostly favorable review in THROUGH INDIAN EYES, edited by Beverly Slapin and Doris Seale.

I have not studied either one.

Pat---do you have ready access to them?

One of the first things I would do is see how Paola cites the source(s) for his story, and who/what he cites.

Betsy Hearne's articles on source notes are helpful for looking at the integrity of stories like these two.
