Established in 2006 by Dr. Debbie Reese of Nambé Pueblo, American Indians in Children's Literature (AICL) provides critical analysis of Indigenous peoples in children's and young adult books. Dr. Jean Mendoza joined AICL as a co-editor in 2016.

ReplyDeleteA few years ago, the American Indian Child Resource Center was teaching a group of girls to make their own jingle dresses. When they came out at the powwow in their beautiful regalia, after the honor song, Oyate presented each of the girls with an autographed copy of JINGLE DANCER. For me, giveaways is the best part of what we do, and the happy look on the girls' faces is a moment I treasure.
