I literally followed your blogger link and found your book AN INDIGENOUS PEOPLES' HISTORY OF THE UNITED STATES FOR YOUNG PEOPLE and put it in my Amazon cart. For fiction I'll try to figure out the content and why the chose it and try to find comparable #ownvoices books. (The book that spurred me to action was a book called Walk the Rim that made us kind of wonder if it was a biased and outdated narrative. I haven't done a deep dive on it yet.)
Thank you so much.Mercedes Silerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07176962554137978507noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27760240.post-45340172373817538582020-01-06T18:06:36.571-06:002020-01-06T18:06:36.571-06:00By topic, no, but by grade level--what you're ...By topic, no, but by grade level--what you're looking at on this page is what we do, each year. https://americanindiansinchildrensliterature.blogspot.com/p/best-books.html

Specific by grade level... we don't do that. There's too much variation in what a given child can read, and, who might be doing the reading, how, what context, etc. Debbie Reesehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14972409006633565859noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27760240.post-19336753696900984082020-01-06T18:00:09.049-06:002020-01-06T18:00:09.049-06:00Hi! I'm a writer and I saw Ms. Reese's name come up on Twitter through current events in the writing community and followed the trail to here.

I'm also a homeschooler teaching third grade and am having a REALLY hard time with the accuracy and honesty of the books in our curriculum about the indigenous peoples of the Americas starting from Columbus and ending at the Civil War. I was wondering if you have or know of curated lists by grade level or subject? I am ready to do the work myself, but I thought if it was already done and made and ready to go, I'd be foolish not to ask. Thank you for all you are doing.Mercedes Silerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07176962554137978507noreply@blogger.com
