It has been hard to find books without white (usually male) protagonists. I'm wondering what you thought of the first book in Robertson's series: The Barren Grounds. I have found your site really helpful (e.g. your commentary on Trickster: Native American Tales [graphic novel], which I am also thinking about including).<br />Danielle E. The update spends more time talking about the importance of Indigenous authors, than the actual problems, but that's clearly not the issue here.Val Olafsonnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27760240.post-3770929357646501302022-04-27T06:04:11.576-05:002022-04-27T06:04:11.576-05:00Hi- I know this is slightly outside your usual but...Hi- I know this is slightly outside your usual but wondering if you would consider reviewing Honest History magazine for kids - the current issue is “A Native Story”. With the problems with the "1619" book the wording in Robertson's "The Great Bear" is also of concern to me. The book should not be removed but rather could be used as a discussion point within an 560 Plus Nations course for elementary and middle school students and also in an undergraduate teacher ed. course. I love your blog and will continue to follow this because it is important to me because my mom was an educator of Native descent.
